Golden Kanjivaram with Tissue Finish

Golden, and a Kanjivaram — the silk woven in and around Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. Look for paisley figures across it. Its zari, the metallic thread of this tradition, is silver. The tissue finish gives it a fine sheen. The pallu, which is the decorated end worn over the shoulder, carries the densest work. It carries a Silk Mark tag, the Indian certification for genuine silk. It reads best under evening light. A maroon blouse piece is included. Silk of this weight holds a pleat well and does not need pressing between wearings. Care	Dry clean the first wash. After that, if dry cleaning is not possible, hand wash gently in cold water without detergent and let it air dry in shade — never machine wash, tumble dry or wring it. Wash the body separately from the zari border and pallu, which may be dyed differently. Store it wrapped in cotton cloth rather than plastic, somewhere cool and dry, and unfold it every few months to let it air. Iron through a thin cotton cloth on medium heat, never directly on the silk or the zari. (Supplier's care guidance.)
