Peach Zero-Zari Kanjivaram with Temple Border

A peach Kanjivaram — the silk woven in and around Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. The body is worked in kattam, the woven check grid. There is no zari on it — no metallic thread anywhere — so the weave itself has to carry the design. Down each edge, a temple-point border. It carries a Silk Mark tag, the Indian certification for genuine silk. Suited to festival mornings rather than late evenings. A violet blouse piece is included. The blouse piece is a contrast rather than a match, in violet.

Care	Dry clean the first wash. After that, if dry cleaning is not possible, hand wash gently in cold water without detergent and let it air dry in shade — never machine wash, tumble dry or wring it. Wash the body separately from the zari border and pallu, which may be dyed differently. Store it wrapped in cotton cloth rather than plastic, somewhere cool and dry, and unfold it every few months to let it air. Iron through a thin cotton cloth on medium heat, never directly on the silk or the zari. (Supplier's care guidance.)
