Yellow Kanjivaram, Korvai Border

This one is yellow, woven as a Kanjivaram: the silk woven in and around Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. Across the body: jaal, an all-over trellis of motifs, and creeper vines. The metallic thread, or zari, reads gold here. This is a korvai piece: the border is not part of the body but joined to it afterwards, which leaves a faint ridge where the two meet. It carries a Silk Mark tag, the Indian certification for genuine silk. It reads best under evening light. A red blouse piece is included. Korvai weaving is slower and only some looms still do it, which is part of what you are paying for.

Care	Dry clean the first wash. After that, if dry cleaning is not possible, hand wash gently in cold water without detergent and let it air dry in shade — never machine wash, tumble dry or wring it. Wash the body separately from the zari border and pallu, which may be dyed differently. Store it wrapped in cotton cloth rather than plastic, somewhere cool and dry, and unfold it every few months to let it air. Iron through a thin cotton cloth on medium heat, never directly on the silk or the zari. (Supplier's care guidance.)
